As part of our curriculum, the children are taken for local walks, visits etc. off the premises and permission will be sought for children to be included in such outings.
- A staff member will inform parents/carers of any visits or outings involving the transportation of children away from the nursery.
- The nursery will inform parents if public transport will be used.
- A full risk assessment will be carried out for each outing that is not a local walk.
Prior to the outing, the nursery will:
- Check individual written consent on the child registration form.
- Advise parents of the time and location where the visit will take place.
- Advise parents on any special equipment needed for a i.e. suitable clothing for all weathers.
- Designate a person to be in A designated First Aider will always be present.
- During the outing, take appropriate medication for children/staff attending where necessary.
The staff members will:
- Take a prepared emergency bag on trip.
- Divide the children into small groups and regular head counts carried out throughout.
- Take a register / list of children with them.
- Take a first aid kit.
- Take a Paint Pots provided mobile phone and contact No personal mobile devices (see mobile phone policy)
- Take anything else deemed necessary for the comfort of the trip e. suncream, nappies, tissues, snacks.
