Each interaction with a visitor is representative of Paint Pots ethos and values. As such, we always offer all visitors a courteous, friendly and respectful greeting. Mindful of our responsibility for safeguarding the children we care for and ensuring the safety of everyone on site, all visits must be recorded and staff must satisfy themselves that they are confident in the identity of each visitor.
The entry door should only be answered by an experienced Paint Pots employee familiar with parents. Students are not permitted to answer the door to visitors, to protect themselves and the nursery. New members of staff who do answer the door must always check with a colleague before admitting anyone unknown to them.
Staff / Students
All staff and students are required to sign in or sign out on the FAMLY tablet. This is a safeguarding requirement and must be done every time as soon as they enter or leave the premises.
Parents / Carers delivering or collecting children.
Where parents / carers are known to staff and the purpose of their visit is either to deliver or collect their own children, they are not expected to sign in to the setting nor is it necessary to check their identification. Where a parent / carer is visiting for the first time, staff must satisfy themselves of their identification if they are not already known to them. The parent/carer must read the leaflet ‘Safeguarding Guidance for Visitors’ and be made aware of the evacuation procedures.
Visitors’ Sign In
Details of every other category of visitors to the setting must be recorded on the visitor’s signing in sheet.
The sign-in sheet must include:
Unknown visitors will be asked to produce official photographic ID such as an identity card.
