POLICY INFORMATION

The nursery welcomes the chance to encourage training. We accept student placements and recognise this as an opportunity to examine and review our own practice.

• All students on placement must adhere to the same codes of conduct as permanent staff and this also applies to time-keeping and dress codes.
• Students will be attached to a senior member of staff who will supervise their work and explain the safety and fire requirements.
• All students will be encouraged to contribute fully to the nursery routine and to spend some time in each area.
• Students must never be left alone with children and will only be allowed to change nappies when supervised.
• Students will be subject to Paint Pots Safer Recruitment procedures and references will be requested.
• Students will carry out an induction procedure prior to starting their work.
• Any concerns with a student’s conduct, behaviour or work commitment will be addressed with the manager and any concerns referred to the relevant school/college.
• Managers have a duty of care for all students under the age of 18 and must raise any concerns to senior management as soon as possible.
• Next of kin and school details must be kept up to date in case of emergencies or absence.
