POLICY INFORMATION

As part of building a healthy lifestyle, we recognise the critical role of physical activity in supporting the optimal growth, health, wellbeing and physical development of every child.

At Paint Pots, we believe that physical activity should be an enjoyable and integral part of every child's day. We provide children with regular opportunities to be active through a wide range of developmentally appropriate experiences, both indoors and outdoors. Our environment is designed to encourage children to move freely, explore, develop their physical skills and build confidence in their own abilities.

Physical activity supports children's holistic development and provides important opportunities for learning, exploration, social interaction and developing independence.

The benefits of physical activity

Research shows that being physically active supports children's development in many important areas, including:

• The development of social skills, including cooperation, turn-taking and working together.
• Self-confidence, resilience and self-esteem.
• Communication and language skills, through active play and shared experiences.
• The development of important brain structures and cognitive skills, supporting children's ability to learn and explore.
