Purpose

Paint Pots Preschool & Nursery is committed to protecting the health, safety and wellbeing of children, staff, volunteers, students, visitors and families.

This procedure provides a clear framework for responding to suspected or confirmed outbreaks of infectious disease within any Paint Pots setting, ensuring that appropriate measures are implemented promptly to minimise transmission, maintain safe operations and meet legal reporting requirements.

Definition of an Outbreak

An outbreak may be suspected where:

Two or more linked cases of the same infectious illness occur within a short period of time; or
The number of cases is significantly higher than would normally be expected; or
A notifiable disease is identified; or
Advice is received from public health authorities that an outbreak is occurring.

Responsibilities

Nursery Manager

The Nursery Manager is responsible for:

Leading the initial outbreak response.
Reporting to senior management when necessary
Ensuring appropriate infection control measures are implemented.
