CONTRACTOR & MAINTENANCE STAFF SAFE WORKING RULES

CHILDREN'S SAFETY ALWAYS COMES FIRST

All contractors, tradespeople and maintenance staff must follow these rules whenever working in a Paint Pots setting.

1. PLAN YOUR WORK

Before starting:

☐ Speak to the Nursery Manager or person in charge. Remember to sign in and read the visitor safeguarding document.

☐ Agree where and when the work will take place.

☐ Wherever possible, carry out noisy, dusty, hazardous or higher-risk work when children are not present.

☐ Follow any agreed risk assessment or method statement.

If the work cannot be carried out safely around children – STOP and speak to the Manager.

2. KEEP CHILDREN AWAY

☐ N/A

☐ Children must never enter a maintenance work area.

☐ Use physical barriers, closed/locked doors or suitable exclusion zones.

☐ A warning sign alone is not sufficient.

☐ Check regularly that children cannot access the area.

If children cannot be safely kept away – STOP WORK.

3. KEEP CONTROL OF YOUR TOOLS

☐ Keep all tools and equipment under your direct control.
