Introduction

Paint Pots ensures that all accidents and incidents are recorded. Accidents will be recorded on FAMLY. The manager is responsible for tracking accidents monthly across the setting and accessing risks and safeguarding issues that may arise from the checks. The incident forms are restricted documents and not available for public viewing and will be completed by the nursery deputy/manager and stored securely on site.

We follow the guidelines of the Reporting Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences (RIDDOR) for the reporting of accidents and incidents. Parents / Carers are notified of all accidents involving their child and are asked to read and sign an accident/incident record. If the incident is serious enough then it will also be reported to Ofsted (see below).

Accident

An accident record must be completed for any of the following:

Any child or adult suffers an injury which requires application of treatment (e.g.: cold compress) while at nursery

Recording

Reporting

For any accident involving a child, parents will always be informed. If the accident is of a minor nature and staff satisfy themselves that the child is ok, a form will still have to be submitted on FAMLY and parents must acknowledge it through their app. Parents will be informed when they come to collect their child at the end of the session of the reason for the accident. They will be invited to ask any questions and discuss any concerns.

If there are any concerns regarding the wellbeing of a child following an accident, parents will be contacted as soon as possible, using the emergency contact details held on the computer database.
